Disaster comes in many forms..

Fire, chemical spillage, flood, computer virus, death of a senior executive, the list is endless. Statistically a company has a one in twenty two chance of having to cope with a major incident during its trading life, and only a thirty percent chance of surviving it. Experience shows that a company will recover less than 15% of the total cost of an accident or incident (HSC published statistic).

Survival is in the details

Valuable management time is wasted forming a plan after the event. Careful planning in a calm atmosphere will enable 90% of the answers to be provided in advance. The objective of STAR CORE is to identify areas of corporate risk, minimise them, assess priorities and build resilience into the operations to withstand an incident. Under STAR CORE a manual is made available to all senior management which provides a reference for policies, procedures, contacts, and responsibilities.

The structure of the project is based on the identification and quantification of the Critical Operational Resource Elements (CORE) which are fundamental to the successful continuance of the business. Once identified, the CORE concept is inserted into predefined (STAR) Situations, to the operational Tasks, which provokes Analysis and thus enables appropriate Responses to be developed. Additional benefit is gained by the implementation of a process that quantifies the key costs of the business, thus speeding up and maximising the financial support provided by the Company Insurers, and minimising the level of unassessed and uninsured losses.

The STAR CORE approach is based on the principles of simplicity, durability and devolution, which are incorporated into the day to day operations of the business.
