Course Aims The Professional Security Officer is a qualification written by SITO and certificated by City & Guilds. The course is suitable for those who have worked in, and gained basic knowledge off, the security industry and now wish to further their education.

Contents The Professional Security Officer will assist the candidate in the following essential areas:
  • Duties and Responsibilities (Damage, Loss Prevention, AssignmentInstructions, types of Duties, Equipment)
  • Contribute to Health & Safety in the Workplace (Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Typical Risks and Hazards, Signs)
  • Communicate with Others (Communicating effectively, Phonetic Alphabet, Log Books, Messaging)
  • Deal with Emergencies (Contacts, Dealing with Fire, Bomb Threats, Evacuation, Suspicious Objects)
  • Control and Monitor Access to Premises and Property (ID Cards, Access of Employees, Keys, Dealing with Intruders)
  • Maintain the Security of Premises and Property (Patrols, Equipment, Scenes of Crime)
  • Apprehend and Detain Suspects (The Law, Offences, Powers of Arrest, Caution)
  • Carry out Searches (Consent, Random Searches, Procedures)
  • Develop and Maintain Positive Working Relationships with Customers (Appearance, Customer care, Complaints)
